Meet Mabel Dean
Mabel Dean’s life is a tapestry of professional and artistic endeavors. After graduation from Cornell University, she started her professional life as a home economics teacher in Westchester County, New York. She co-authored “The Food Book,” published by Goodheart Wilcox, and created educational materials, including several simulation games for Fortune 500 companies.
She was employed as a consumer advocate for a major New York Bank, and together she and her husband created a restaurant in Westchester. After moving to California, Mabel was hired by a large bank to work in the advertising department and subsequently became a Vice President in the Retirement Programs Division.
Upon retirement, she became immersed in developing her skills as a mixed media and book artist. She led the development of Tuscon’s PaperWorks, The Sonoran Collective for Book and Paper Artists serving as its first President. She traveled extensively with her husband and continues to be an avid journal writer, reader, seeker, and innovator.
